KOGED is a center for providing education and training for individuals from all walks of life and age Kocaeli-Turkey. Our association has prepared a Youth Action 3-1 project and is inviting participants from Mediterranean Countries. The starting date of the project is 14/09/2010and the closing date is 21/09/2010.
The Aims of the Project:
-To foster joint learning and cooperation between young learners from different countries.
-To help youth experience an enhanced cultural awareness both among the participating countries and in their own country.
-To raise the participants awareness of their own cultural and historical background while learning about the culture and history of other countries.
-To enable participants to become aware, both of the differences and similarities between their own culture and that of participating countries.
-To help youth, who have an interest in history, get into contact with other young people with similar interests in other countries.
-To create and promote an alternative learning environment.
-To help young learners refresh their basic skills, such as communication, basic language and presentation skills(they are expected to make 20- minute or so presentations about the history of their hometown and their country.
-To organize short visits to historical and cultural sites, local and regional monuments.
-To create a sense of European citizenship based on understanding, goodwill ,tolerance and respect for other peoples beliefs, attitudes, views and cultures.
The project is intended to last 6 days, three days of which in Kocaeli which used to be the capital city of Ancient Byzantinium before Istanbul, and three remaining days in Istanbul. Thus, the participants will get a chance to visit Istanbul,2010 European Capital City of Culture.
Requirements:
Participants, with the exception of group leaders, should be between 15-25 years old.
