We would like to welcome you in the team of participants of the youth exchange project.
We hope that you will spend full of days in Turkey and this will be a vivid and useful intercultural experience for you. To achieve this, we need to look at some practicalities as well, this is the reason why we have prepared this "survival participants' guide" for you. It will not only help you to answer many questions but also will let you prepare for the course. You can get detailed information about the project when you read it. We are looking forward to meeting you in Ankara.
Language: No matter how different languages the participants use, the common language will be English for group leaders or one member of groups for contact to hearing- impaired youth and children in order to translate their own sign languages. There also will be international sign language. But do not be scared if you think your English will not be good enough, we will support you and many activities will be possible in your own sign language, because of the aim to reach your sign languages.
Aims: The main aim of the project is to find out the useful methods to encourage the youngsters to participate in social and civil life and to support them to be involved in taking decisions.
Objectives:
- To understand the importance of "Youth Active Participation";
- To talk, discuss and analyze the different ways of youth works in different countries of Europe;
- To provide general information about the YOUTH IN ACTION programmes;
- To give the opportunity to meet possible partner groups and to make contacts in different countries;
- To share previous experiences in deaf youth field;
- To learn more about other cultures, to know each other better;
- To discover Turkey and to taste crazy Turkish characteristics.
The Participant Countries: (5 of these countries will be selected for the project): Italy, Algeria, Tunisia, Poland, Hungary, France, Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, and Turkey.
Target Group :
15-30 Years old youngsters and older youngsters feel like 18; 5 people including a group leader and (at least) 2 hearing-impaired people from each country ( Total: 25 people)
COSTS
Board, lodging and programme costs will be provided and paid by grant from the National Agency of Flanders of the "Youth in Action" Programme. Insurance will not be covered by the programme, what means that you are obliged to take care of PERSONAL travel and health insurance on your own. There will be a refund of 70 percent of the real travel expenses (But they can’t be more than the estimated amount which is in the application to the national agency, a detailed list will be sent to you a while ago)
We need to prove everything to the national agency: Without proof, unfortunately we can’t refund. So please bring with you:
1 - The original invoice of the flight ticket! (With clear mark how much you have paid). This invoice should be addressed to yourself, or your organization. (If you receive an electronic ticket, please print out a copy also for us. Please make black the other personal expenses (we wish to respect the privacy) and put on a mark or a stamp of your organization. This proofs the real cost of the ticket.
2- Save all boarding passes (without it we can’t reimburse!)
3 -Save all original train and bus tickets or other tickets.
4 - If you need to travel by car to the airport: We need an invoice with the price and the amount of fuel for that trip, on the same day as your traveling. Save the payment ticket and give it us so that we can refund you. Costs for parking will unfortunately not be reimbursed...Transfers by taxi, also will not be refunded, because the NA does not except this way as being the cheapest. And also keep in mind, only Turkish currency " Lira ( TL) " can be used in Turkey, You can’t use Euro or other currencies.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
Intercultural Evening: In our project, we plan to arrange 2 evenings as Inter-Cultural evening where you can present your own cultures national, regional, personal or any kind of culture you feel you owe. This presentations/activities should not be a "lecture" so try to find most creative and funny ways to show your culture. It means that all options are possible. A culture may be presented by a song, a story, a poem, a dance, some local special drinks or food, etc. You can bring pictures, music, drinks or anything which you consider to be most appropriate to represent your culture.
Culture coffee breaks: The coffee breaks in the seminar will be prepared by the participants and each country will be responsib
