ALTRE NOTIZIE: We are a group of 16 people from Konya, Turkey. We are currently in the process of preparing our application for 1st of April with a project under Action 1.1. Our project aims to support intercultural dialogue through two themes, folk dances and philosophy of peace. All the activities and the final event, created by all the participants, will be recorded to be broadcasted on a Konya based Turkish channel. Konya, as the home of Rumi, builds its identity upon his highly tolerant peaceful philosophy, expressed at its best with his famous line of "Come, whoever you have been, come". Our group, has been expressing this peaceful philosophy and the long cultural history of Konya, through the medium of dance. We would like to work with groups who can share our passion for folk dances and peaceful philosophy; who can bring the cultural wealth of their countries' expressed through its thinkers and dances. Activities would involve dance workshops, discussions upon the theme of peace and intercultural dialogue, presentation of history of Rumi and Konya, and the presentations of the partner groups. Day trips to cultural and touristic sites around Konya and Central Turkey are also part of the programme. Through the project, we aim to improve the understanding of Turkey and its potential contribution as well as its historical contributions to the cultural wealth of the European identity. In return, we would like to learn how you perceive the European identity and how intercultural dialogue may be further promoted by following the footsteps of the thinkers and cultural exchange by dance.
SCADENZA: 1st of April 2010
