On behalf of one of our youth clubs we are looking for a partner from the Western Turkey, most probably from Izmir or Istanbul for a long term Cooperation. In the cooperation we are expecting to invite for an exchange in Denmark (described below) and we are expecting a re-invitation to a youth exchange for the same target group and with the same group size.
Aim
The aim of the exchange is to strengthen young people’s intercultural understanding and international qualifications in order to promote their chances in a new globalized Europe.
Objectives
The objectives of the exchange are to:
- Strengthen the intercultural understanding among the participants and to:
o Create new life long lasting friendships
o Give the participants an in view in each others National cultures and tradition
o Promote mutual tolerance and understanding.
- Make the participants reflect upon the values and beliefs that unite young people of Europe and to:
o Build a European identity among the participants
o Make the young people reflect upon and dream about the future of Europe.
o Inform the participants about EU and the opportunities that EU offer young people.
- Make young people to reflect upon their own responsibility regarding their future as well as the future of the society they are living in and to:
o Promote European citizenship among the participants
o Strengthen the spirit and motivation for participation
o Motivating the participants to actively search more international qualifications.
Time and place
The exchange will take place from Friday September 24th to October the 2nd 2010 in Tranum. Most activities will be on the school of Tranum and Tranum Youth Club. The participants will be accommodated in host families. Accommodation for group leaders are not planed yet, but it is expected that a summerhouse will be rented for them. The APV will take place in Tranum at August 18-19th 2010.
Participants
The exchange will have participation from 60 Young people and their leaders from Germany, Turkey, Greece, Spain and Denmark.
The participants should be between 13 and 14 years old and be accompanied by two adult leaders.
Each partner has responsibility to select their own delegation of participants. However the partners agree that following criteria should be followed for the selection:
- The selection should insure a gender balance
- The selection process should be open and transparent
- The participants should be within the target group
- The participants should be able to communicate in English
- The participants should be motivated to take active part of preparation, implementation and evaluation.
- The participants should be open-minded and ready to reflect upon the cultural meeting. The partners are aware that the project does not have a strict balance between the numbers of participants from each delegation as the Danish delegation is relatively larger than the other delegations. However the partners agreed to compose the participants as described, for following reasons: The participants are staying in host families and in the selection of families is focus on that one that the host families have children that also participate in the event. In order to make sure that as many of the participants can stay in families of the Danish participants, the Danish delegation have been enlarged. By doing this the partners are also hoping to have a stronger local impact.
