The rural represents a cultural journey to the past, a place where time stands still. It represents the truth which keeps the spirit, the specific and the originality of a culture. It is said that the village is the place where people don t ask time for changes. Though, we must admit that the European village is less developed than the city and there are some measures that should be taken to improve the living and the educational standards.
Our project will take place in a mountain rural zone from the south east of Romania where along with young people from 5 different UE countries, will try to discover the values, the attitudes and the traditional symbols, analyzing the gaps between the rural and the urban areas, trying to find ways to fine them down.
Objectives of the project:
- encouraging young people toward a better understanding on the poverty matter that affects the rural space and the way in which Europe deals with this problem;
- developing the intercultural dialogue between 25 Europeans youngsters from 5 different countries through activities based on non-formal education, which highlight the traditional customs of their countries;
- organizing an exhibit with the most representative photographs taken by participants during the exchange that reflect the Romanian rural life from a foreign perspective comparing it to their own rural experience.
Date and Venue: 3-20th August 2010, Tulnici(Vrancea)/ROMANIA.
Participants: 5 (4+1) people from 5 each country (18-25).
Financial aspects: Accommodation and food costs are covered by the organization as well as the 70% of travel cost for each participant (while 30% of travel cost should be covered by participants by themselves).
