Our project aims to contribute to the social inclusion of 24 orphans or young people with similar background by offering them a framework and support for a healthy lifestyle, focusing on the benefits provided by adventure through sport and outdoor activities. Orphans have few, if any, opportunities to develop the life or work skills necessary to integrate back into society. They have little confidence in their abilities and are easily influenced by others. The emphasis of the program is to build self esteem, to open participants’ minds, learn about other cultures and contribute to the social inclusion of the participating orphans.
The program will take place in Sovata and
surroundings in August and will last for 10 days. It will involve
teaching outdoor skills and preparing the participants for an outdoor
expedition, where they will experience backpacking and hiking, mountain biking, abseiling, raft building and rafting. There will be cultural evenings and several workshops centred on the
advantages of sport on the personal development, involving the active participation of the orphan young people, allowing them to share opinions, experiences, to learn from each other and reinforce their feeling of being European citizens. The project will culminate with the participation at the Carpathian Adventure outdoor competition, which is organized by Outward Bound Romania.

Age: 18-25
Social background: orphans who were raised in institutions and/or young people with similar background.
Number of participants/country: 4 (mixed gender)
