Workshops for coordinators of the international youth exchange from European countries aimed at fostering partner cooperation,
The conception of the programme is based on the experience we gained during the organization of the Forum of non-governmental organizations from Poland, Germany and the Ukraine. The Forum functioned for 6 years under the auspices of the German-Polish Youth Office. The overall idea behind the programme turned out successful, however, in the recent years there was a steady decline in the number of participating organizations from Germany. Thus, the need to rethink the idea and set new principles for cooperation arose. Last year we made a decision to suspend the Forum. For a long time we have been pondering to extend the cooperation to other European and even non-European countries. This conception could not be realized within the frames of the German-Polish Youth Office (which accepts only trilateral projects). Yet, the Youth in Action Programme does not impose such limitations. Having our to date experience as a point of reference/departure, we are going to provide a platform for the cooperation between the coordinators/leaders of the organizations involved in the international youth exchange in order to build partnerships and create new ideas for projects.
Target group:
Coordinators of the youth organizations from the Programme Countries (Poland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Portugal, Bulgaria, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, France, Spain, Austria, Italy) We assume the proportional participation of organizations representing groups. We will invite two persons per organization. We have also invited outstanding participants of youth exchange projects from Poland who will assist in preparations at different stages of the project. Their involvement will provide them with an excellent opportunity to go deeper into the subject of international youth projects.
Objectives:
- Strengthening the contact between the organizations responsible for youth projects;
- Exchange of ideas about the projects that will result in joint programmes within different Actions;
- Closer acquaintance with local non-governmental organizations (visits to organisations working in the youth international field in Lublin);
- Transfer of experience between coordinators from various backgrounds;
- Increase in quality of international youth exchanges;
- Discussions on the topics connected with international youth exchange.
Methods of work:
- Innovative method open space to build partnerships for future projects
The method consists in the group work – the groups are formed to focus on specific project ideas. There are several groups working simultaneously in different rooms. It is crucial that each participant has a chance to suggest their own and may gather a working group for it. The method enables a free flow of participants between groups. All ideas are documented and at the end of the project they are distributed among participants together with relevant contacts.
- Workshops on intercultural communication to facilitate a direct contact between participants;
- Presentation of „good practices” of international project learning from the best;
- Work in task-oriented teams to come up with project conceptions (discussion, brainstorming);
- Visits in local non-governmental organizations;
- Language animations;
- Workshops on pedagogy of play.
The Open Space method will contribute to the personal involvement of all participants in coming up with ideas for future projects and in the same time will enable each leader to present their own project conceptions and get in touch with other coordinators interested in it. Consequently, it will lead to fostering partnerships to realize the project.
Results:
- Transfer of knowledge and experience connected with international youth exchanges;
- Establishment of bi- and multilateral partnerships to carry out youth projects;
- Working out new project ideas that will be realized within different actions of the Youth in Action Programme;
- Building a Web portal to exchange information, ideas, and contacts between organizations.
The participants will obtain a package of course materials and photocopies with all the project ideas discussed in the course of workshops together with contacts to coordinators in charge of specific projects.
