Brief summary of the project:
Art from the junk is a project allowing the youth to express their opinions and views about environmental issues, but in an unusual way. Through a series of workshops we want to raise awareness and knowledge about environmental protection and sustainable development using specific art technique called “Assemblage” (Assemblage is an artistic process in which a three-dimensional artistic composition is made from putting together found objects). Using old, used staff like paper, plastic, metal and wood and creating a whole new art forms we are actually using art as a tool to send a message about the importance of environmental protection. Although the main aim of the project is to empower young people to take active role in the society, the variety of the subjects they can work on is left to their creativity, and the environmental issues they feel are important to address. Our work will be concentrated on preparing different art objects made of recyclable materials for an exhibition, which will take place at the end of the exchange. Participants will be trained and qualify for trainers - peer educators capable of implementing assemblage workshops with youth in their local communities. All youth leaders and young people with artistic aspirations are welcome to take part.
Methodology:
Informal training methods will be used during the seminar such as workshops, discussions, simulations, games, art exhibition, brief excursions, etc.
Technical conditions:
Participants of the project will be reimbursed 70% of their travel expenses. Accommodation and food during the whole period of the project will be covered 100%. There is no participation fee.
