Details: “Juvenis Ludens” (Playing Young People) is training course for youth workers with the following thematics: “playing and youth participation”, “playing and learning”, “playing and European Citizenship / Cultural diversity”.
Johan Huizinga, a Dutch educator and theorist, has developed the play theory in his book “Homo Ludens” (1938). Referring to this theory that points out the importance of the play element of culture and society, we propose through this training course “Juvenis Ludens” (Playing Young People) to explore how the game can be used as a tool in youth work.
Specifically this meeting will gather 20 European youth workers who will learn and explore new methods about “playing and youth participation”, “playing and learning”, “playing and European Citizenship / Cultural diversity”.
An emphasis will be put on methods adapted to Youth With Fewer Opportunities, participating both in local youth activities and European mobility activity.
Themes: Game as a tool for youth work:
• Foster participation through games;
• Group cohesions in youth work through games;
• Learning through games;
• Game and initiative spirit;
• Expressing through games;
• European citizenship and game, cultural diversity and game.
Objectives:
• Hoster youth workers on using game as tool for participation;
• Point out the learning dimension through games;
• Support initiative spirit of youth through adapted ludic methods;
• Propose new methods in order to support intercultural learning and European citizenship through games.
Working methods:
• Group games & exercises;
• “boost your creativity” sessions;
• discussions, exchanges;
• active discovery;
• tool fairs presenting a techniques to the others,
• presentations of: a pilot serious game, a local game festival, a local game centre.
Costs: 30 % of the transport costs from your place till the seminar place (Brioude); Participation fee of 35 €.
Working language: English.
