Summary:
This training is dedicated to developing competencies among youth workers to contribute to human rights education and active youth participation through dealing with HR realities in different countries, advocacy for HRE, and cooperation within NGO sector.
Target group:
Youth workers, Youth leaders, Project managers, volunteers, HR activists, etc.
For participants from:
Hungary, Macedonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of, Serbia, Slovak Republic.
Group size: 24 participants.
Details:
“Stand up for your rights!” training course on Human Rights and Active Youth Participation is organised by NGO Youth Forum of Vojvodina in Serbia from 6th to 12th August 2012.
Objectives of the training course are:
• To make participants aware of and deepen their understanding of concepts of human rights;
• To promote human right education and familiarise participants with the approaches of human rights education in non-formal learning settings;
• To develop a better understanding of active youth participation, as well as to encourage participation and involvement;
• To develop participants’ skills, knowledge and attitudes to deal with human rights violations;
• To provide participants with the skills and tools to enhance their activities and develop programmes in the context of human rights education and active youth participation in their communities within the framework of the Youth in Action Programme;
• To empower participants to act as multipliers of human rights education and put them in practice with young people in youth club and on public square in Subotica;
• To introduce and experience activities of Compass, the Manual on Human Rights Education with Young People;
• To promote international co-operation and widen existing networks of youth workers and youth leaders dealing with human rights issues.
The course is designed as an open learning process based on participants’ experience and exchange. The training course will follow the non-formal education approach.
Working methods that are going to be used in this training course are:
Individual and group activities; using diversity of peer groups for the learning; thematic and creative workshops; presentations; theatre workshops; team buildings; games; quiz; street action; learning by doing; enabling participants to apply and transfer what they learnt to their youth work practise; discussions; sharing; reflection; monitoring and advising, and so on.
Financial conditions:
This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. 100% for accommodation and food will be covered and 70% of travel cost. A participation fee of 10 Euros is payable by each participant.
Participants’ profile:
• Working actively with young people and having at least one year of experience in running youth activities;
• Motivated to develop competences for dealing with Human Rights and developing the sense of tolerance;
• Able to communicate in English;
• Able to decide independently or having support of organisation to develop long term youth work programme on active participation and cultural diversity;
• Being older than 18.
We are expecting 24 participants from Macedonia, Hungary, Slovakia and Serbia, i.e. 6 participants from each country.
Costs:
This project is financed by the European Commission within the framework of the Youth in Action Programme. 100% of accommodation and food will be covered. 70% of the travel cost will be reimbursed upon presentation of documentary evidence of the sum actually paid. Participation fee: 10€
