Details:
The Forum Theatre was created by Brazilian Augusto Boal in the context of discrimination and breaking of the human rights in Brazilian society in the 70’-ties. He approached political and social issues and developed scenarios about political and social situations that were performed on the stage. The people that were spectators got up on the stage and made interventions trying to change the scenario and becoming spect-actors that way. With help of such theatre groups, people that face diverse social problems can find numerous alternative solutions to their problems by getting up on the stage and changing a particular behaviour and/or attitude of the person that in the scenario has probably the same problem as he has in his/her own life… The whole point of the method is to make people see and understand how a seemingly insignificant change of attitude, behaviour or thinking pattern can have a significant effect on his/her life as well as lives of people around him/her.
Goals of the project:
• To improve communication, leadership and motivational skills of the participants;
• To discuss and explore the issues (especially the problems) facing by Young People and to identify the commonalities therein and how we might best help youth to address them;
• To develop the Non-Formal Education Facilitation Skills of the participants, especially the use of Drama / Theatre (in particular shape of Forum and Image Theatre) as tools for working with Youth in their own communities;
• To develop youth workers social theatre facilitation skills as a special tool for the inclusion;
• To foster a ‘pro-active attitude’ amongst the participants and to pass-on this attitude, so that it might be multiplied within those youth and communities that we work with;
• To build an awareness on social theatre methods for youth leaders and to take the first steps towards the creation of a network of forum and image theatre multipliers among youth leaders at a local, regional, national and international level.
