Summary: This project was created in order to satisfy the need of practitioners of Forum, Image Theatre etc to advance and upgrade their skills. Participation in this training is conditioned by previous experience in working with these methods (actor/joker/etc.)
Target group: Youth workers, Trainers, Youth leaders, Project managers, Activists
For participants from: Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey
Group size: 20 participants.
Details: In the last years there more and more organization that got in contact with Forum Theatre (or other types of theatre of the oppressed method) and got basic or introductory training in it. They are many youth workers which are using these methods in their work BUT that needs to upgrade their competencies and get more advanced skills in their role as multipliers. This project was created in order to satisfy this need of practitioners of Forum, Image, etc Theatre to advance and upgrade their skills. Therefore the participation in this training is conditioned by previous experience in working with these methods (actor/joker/facilitator)! The main goal of this project is to increase youth social participation and community intervention as key elements for a social sustainable society in Europe. More specific Objectives of the project are:
- to deepen the knowledge in Theatre of The Oppressed (Social Theatre ) principal concept and theory of practitioners in the field;
- to improve skills of youth workers in Theatre of the Oppressed methods (Image, Forum and Invisible Theatre)
- to develop facilitation and group management skills among youth workers;
- to develop specific attitudes among the partners NGO members and also among the beneficiaries of the partners related to Theatre of the Oppressed and Theatre for Change philosophy;
- to deepen the awareness of similarities and differences in social problems and kinds of oppression in different European countries;
to increase the sense of common responsibility for the future of their local communities as well as the whole European community;
- to empower the participants to act as independent Theatre of The Oppressed (Social Theatre) multipliers in their own organization and communities;
Target group and criteria for selection
- Previous experience (actor/joker/facilitator) with Forum, Image, Invisible Theatre (or other types of Theatre of the Oppressed techniques.
- All participants should have an English level of at least medium level (to be able to participate in discussion and in training activities)
- They should have the support of their sending organization and a platform where they could act as theatre of the oppressed multipliers.
- should be resident of one of following countries: Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania, Turkey , Slovenia, Luxemburg, Estonia , Italy
Costs
This project is funded by the Youth in Action Program. According to its rules, all costs of board and logging will be covered by the organizers. In addition, the organizers are going to reimburse 70% of the participants’ travel costs (from the country of residence – which has to be on the list mentioned before), upon the receipt of all original tickets and invoices.
NOTE: After the results will be sent a more intensive communication with the participants will take place in the second week of October and obligatory fulfilments of travel arrangements – therefore is expected that all applicants to be aware of that and be ready to have internet access and respond on time!
