A course to explore the concept of youth participation, learn about the Youth in Action programme and learn how to set up a Youth Democracy project.

For whom?

This is the right course for if your are youth leader, youth worker, a young person or a public officer:
• Willing to apply for an Action 1.3 Youth Democracy project after the course;
• Representing an organization, association, student council, youth council or a local authority or a group of young people;
• Able to talk and work in English;
• Live in any of the YOUTH IN ACTION programme countries: 27 EU countries + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey.
Why?
The aim is the exploration of the concept of youth participation, the provision of knowledge regarding the Youth in Action programme and more specifically Action 1.3 and the development of necessary competences for realizing a youth democracy project.
The objectives of the training course are:
• To explore the added value of Youth Democracy projects for the local community;
• To acquire project management and communication competences;
• To develop understanding about the principles of youth participation;
• To learn about the Youth in Action Programme and especially about the quality criteria of Action 1.3 Youth Democracy projects;
• To share and transfer experiences of activities undertaken in the local community;
• To create a space for contact making and finding potential partners for Youth Democracy projects;
• To develop an action plan to realise a Youth Democracy project.
What?
• Youth in Action programme. You will get information about the Youth in Action programme, particularly the criteria of Action 1.3 Youth Democracy projects;
• Concept of participation. You will reflect on the concept of youth participation to get a better understanding;
• Project management. You will reflect on current needs in your local community. You will define concrete project ideas to answer those needs. You will set up the first steps in the development of your Youth Democracy project;
• Teamwork and partnerships. You will be given suggestions to help with team work (at local and international level): decision-making processes, division of tasks, and cooperation between the partner groups;
• Intercultural setting. You will meet people from all over Europe to exchange experiences, work on participation, develop future actions etc;
• Contact making. You will get to know each other's projects and organisations and will have the opportunity to further develop cooperation with your partners.
Please take note of the following conditions which will apply if you accept a place on the seminar.
Get involved:
1. Obtaining a full travel insurance policy is the participant's responsibility;
2. I commit myself to participate in the whole process, including:
• to prepare myself carefully for the training course and to do all preparation work the team will ask for;
• to take part in the full duration of the training course;
• to participate in the whole evaluation process;
3. My correspondence address and information about my organization and work can be shared with the other partners in the field and as part of the course material and pictures taken at the course can be used to document the activity in reports or websites;
4. I understand that providing the information on special needs, does not remove my own personal responsibility for ensuring my own health and safety.
Costs:
Travel costs are covered by the National Agency of the participant country. Costs for food, accommodation, working rooms and trainers are covered by the Romanian National Agency as hosting NA.
