Summary:
EYE Opener is a training for newcomers in Youth Exchanges, where youth workers and young people participate in teams. The aim is to motivate and to empower participants in developing youth exchange projects.
Target group:
Youth workers, Youth leaders, Young people in teams with leaders.
For participants from:
Youth In Action Programme Countries.
Group size: 35-40 participants.
Details:
The Eye Opener training course offer an international learning experience to young people and youth leaders, motivating them and enabling them to develop their competences in setting up quality Youth Exchange projects under the Youth in Action Programme.
Objectives:
• To provide an introduction to Youth Exchanges;
• To offer an individual and group learning experience through a simulated process on setting up a Youth Exchange project;
• To ensure the active participation of young people in the entire process of developing a Youth Exchange, including the early planning phase;
• To develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to organise a Youth Exchange;
• To offer the opportunity to meet possible partner groups and to make contacts in other countries;
• To learn how local communities can be involved in Youth Exchanges.
Working methods:
Information sessions, simulation game, group dynamics and other non-formal learning methods.
Target group:
Teams of 1-2 young people (age 15-18) and 1 voluntary or professional youth worker working directly with the young people. The training course is mainly aimed at those who have no experience of organising international Youth Exchanges under the Youth in Action Programme. The teams should be interested in setting up international youth exchange projects.
Costs:
This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the NAs involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
